About · Linyun Jiang
Eight years of architectural training, from Kunming University of Science and Technology to the Bartlett at UCL, and site visits to landmarks in more than twenty countries. I try to hold rational design principles and experimental ones in balance, with parametric and non-linear design as common ground.
In my design and practice, I seek a continuity between people's feelings and the built environment that grows out of them. I believe architectural design is less about invention than about uncovering potential and transforming reality.
Two years at MAD Architects in Beijing taught me to carry large projects across teams, among them Yiwu Grand Theater and Shenzhen Bay Cultural Center. My work since has turned to AI: at the Bartlett I built Khora, a design assistant trained on a studio's own stock of timber, and Palimpsest, the project it belongs to, received the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture Computational Prize 2025-26, The Strongest Computational Program In MArch AD.

Architecture
From December 2022 to November 2024 I worked at MAD Architects in Beijing, as a junior architect and as a member of the AI team. On these four projects that meant design model refinement for the Yiwu Grand Theater and the Shenzhen Bay Cultural Center, clash checks between design and construction models, curtain-wall paneling in Grasshopper, and the design of the central bridge of the Shenzhen Bay Cultural Center.

AI/LLM
At the Bartlett I built Khora: a multi-agent assistant that couples several retrieval bases, language-model roles and a 3D voxel clash check, so that it designs only with timber that exists. Palimpsest, the project around it, won the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture Computational Prize 2025-26, The Strongest Computational Program In MArch AD. Before that, I took part in two Digital Futures workshops at Tongji: Dance With AI (2020) and Watchdog (2021).

Education
Studio work at Kunming University of Science and Technology between 2018 and 2023: a kindergarten wrapped in a running track, a memorial exhibition hall on a cliff edge, a memorial place on a former colony, a supertall tower. Rotate In won a Bronze Prize at the Developing Countries Architectural Design Competition in 2020, and Explorin a Bronze Prize at the Asian Architecture Annual Awards in 2022. Explorin was shown in Venice in 2025, and In Silence in New York in 2026.

Research
Surveys with drones, handheld scanners and photogrammetry at heritage sites in Gansu, Chongqing and Yunnan (the Majishan Grottoes, the Diaoyu City wall, Hejiayan Village) and, in 2022, an interactive immersive exhibition hall made in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab.
