Education + Architecture

In the process of urban verticalization, high-rise buildings transcended their role as mere physical spatial entities and emerged as philosophical vessels redefining human existential experiences. The project diverse functional zoning and shared accessibility of panoramic views fundamentally represented a response to the contradictions of modernity—seeking to unlock infinite potential within finite land while infusing humanistic considerations into technical rationality, ultimately culminating in a practical prototype of a "vertical utopia".

The design aimed to create a headquarters in Kunming — a city renowned for its perpetual spring climate — that welcomes high-tech corporations through bold architectural forms. The completed structure balances landmark presence, environmental sustainability, and human-centric accessibility, establishing itself as a magnet for innovative enterprises. Design originated from analyzing occupant needs, shaping a three-dimensional office ecosystem that adapts to site constraints while prioritizing vertical connectivity. Dynamic floor plans and facades generated structured yet varied circulation spaces, where differentiated layouts and programmatic zones created dynamic synergies. Building's facade strategically responds to panoramic views and local microclimates, integrating passive ventilation and solar shading systems. Its sculptural massing, unprecedented in Kunming's architectural history, establishes a distinct visual identity, positioning the structure as a new urban landmark.

Since Stonehenge, architects have always been at the cutting edge of technology. And you can't separate technology from the humanistic and spiritual content of a building. — Norman Foster
