Inside the building
A kindergarten wrapped in a running track
Education + Architecture
A kindergarten whose roof is a running track. The classrooms sit in a ring, the children's track loops over and around them, and a lattice skin of timber and glass holds the whole building.
The shape of the skin came from studies of wind and sunlight: wind roses and ventilation diagrams, comfort analysis through the year, and the sun on every part of the surface in each season. Undergraduate studio work.
